Driver takes out traffic signals at busy Dorchester intersection

BTD workers begin removing pole, with car that hit it still at the scene

BTD workers begin to deal with pole carnage; photo by Vivian Gerard.

Sometime before 7:40 a.m., the driver of a Corolla slammed into a traffic-light pole on the southbound side of Blue Hill Avenue at Columbia Road in Dorchester, sending the pole slamming down across the road and creating an instant traffic jam. No serious injuries, at least.

But you can’t do that on a bike.

Oddly enough, I was looking at street view of this intersection and I noticed this view, looking north, of a crew replacing a light pole in the median, one that probably got taken out as well.

Doesn't look that way from the photo, but still wondering.

That traffic light should not have been gray so it stood out from the surroundings. It should have lights on, too.

Tsk, tsk.

Those pesky bike lanes strike again!

Sucker was movin'!

I took out a light pole in a 90's Sentra in Watertown and I wasn't going that fast. black ice
