Nomah! At the slopes!

Cami Richardson is a New Yorker, but that didn't stop her from talking to a woman with an unusual last name more associated with Boston at a ski event she was working at the other day in Vail, CO:

So I'm helping a customer today and I noticed the woman's last name was Garciaparra. So I said to her, "Oh do you know Nomar?" And a tall gentleman next to her goes, you mean me? It was "Nomah" Garciaparra. We had a nice chat and I got a picture. Being a Yankee fan, it was nice to meet a famous Red Sox player.

With a copy of said picture.

Mia Hamm

?

Really dude?

You should try it.

...and a lot of dudes don't know who Mia Hamm is.

Sexist much? Gesh!

His wife?

Besides many women choosing not to change their last names for other reasons, why would someone with a nice easy-to-say-and-spell last name want to change to something difficult-to-spell when dealing with service people and other strangers?

Of course, former Red Sox player Nomar Garciaparra is married to two-time World Cup winning soccer player Mia Hamm, so this person doesn’t seem to have realized the she ignored the actual global sports champion in order to get a selfie with her husband instead.

but I can’t find anything that suggests she changed her name from Hamm. perhaps a sister or other family member?

It would be funny if Mia was asked to snap the picture.

Reminds me of the time when well-known soccer player Bastian Schweinsteiger was asked to take a photo of his Chicago Fire teammates posing with a fan. She had no idea who he was so figured he should take the pic.

Would be somewhat reminiscent of guy who asked Eddie Van Halen to take a picture of him at a Tool show about 5-6 years ago

It’s also possible that she just goes by her married name for pseudo-anonymity, for a modicum of privacy. (But then, her spouse’s name seems pretty uncommon…)

It’s Arrapaicrag backwards

I guess Arrapaicrag works better than Mmah Aim.

Used to scold me as a child for my aim, even after I got a urinal in my bathroom

And Nomar is Ramon (his father’s name) backwards.

It could also have been his mother or his two daughters or a sister or sister in law or aunt or cousin.

Many women don't take their husband's names...and if I was Mia Hamm, I wouldn't. She had better name recognition in certain places than he does.

The price tag for White Stadium is way they're fuck out of bounds..., "Michelle, what the fuck are you doing, girl?"

What is the sound of one ax grinding, miles and miles and THOUSANDS of miles from its point of origin?
