Woman with shamrock tattoo sought for Dorchester bank robbery

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force reports a bank robbery at a Columbia Road Santander Bank branch on Tuesday.
Subject passed a note to the bank teller threatening violence if she did not receive money. After receiving the robbery money, subject fled on foot along Columbia Road.
Suspect also has a shamrock tattoo on her shoulder.

I could be wrong here but she doesn't exactly appear to be a track star. No one thought, hmm... I could probably walk behind this person for a minute to see where she's heading and tell the cops??
I'm so fed up with this. These bank "robberies" by sliding a note to someone are ridiculous. You make an "aggressive" (passive aggressive?) ask for money and they just give it to you? How many desperate people are willing to take a risk for $ knowing there's essentially no immediate action and a chance they'll get away.
I think it's time to adopt the mentality of the VP who tackled the guy that robbed his bank. There's got to be an easy way to avoid this style of robbery- architecture change? No money handed out by tellers not protected by bullet proof glass in little enclosed rooms 1 person in at a time? I don't know, something, anything!!

I worked in a pharmacy and dreamed of saving the day if it should ever happen that we were robbed. Then I realized I didn't really care if Jean Coutou lost a few thousand dollars worth of percocet and I didnt want to be shot or stabbed.

I agree with both of these points. It's just tough to swallow the pill that banks can't do something to make it the slightest bit difficult to rob them. Certainly the tellers are not the ones who are responsible and in most cases probably no employee inside of the bank is either. It's just so stupid that it's 2015 & we haven't figured out how to make bank robberies at least a little difficult.
People aren't getting away with bank robbery
The clearance rate is 60% for bank robbery. That's per robbery so anyone who tries making a living at it quickly faces vanishing odds of staying out of prison. Letting the robber safely walk away from the bank with the money only to be arrested later by the police or FBI works out best for everyone, including probably the bank robber.
So what you're saying is

There's 40% chance of getting away with one bank robbery, 16% with two, 6% with three. You might get away with bank robbery if you only do it once but it doesn't pay well enough (the average take is less than $5000) to make it a one and done career.
Using that math
If a person has a 60% chance of getting caught after each robbery, then after 1 robbery, they have a 60% chance of getting caught at all.
After 2 robberies: 84% chance of getting caught at all
After 3 robberies: 94%
After 4 robberies: 97%
After 10 robberies: 99.99%
Let them go. If they're dumb enough to think this is the way out the first time, then they're not smart enough to do probabilities and they'll be caught pretty quickly.

There are things called security procedures set in place to protect the employees of the bank. The bank is willing to hand these people money in order to protect lives. Work in the industry and you will realize this small time robbery doesn't effect the bank much.

Why, I almost get misty eyed when I think of all my bank robbing friends and neighbors who have now sadly departed this mortal coil from the ole Bunker Hill projects. Taking that long drive out to North Adams or Amherst...
Those were the days, when a large .45 or a 9mm was so much more traditional in bank robberies. Sigh...just another old Boston institution that's gone away...
Now its pellet guns
In an Arlington robbery, the robber got less than $150. When stopped and pointing, but not shooting his pellet gun at a police officer, the officer shot 11 times, hitting him twice and a house twice. The officer was awarded a medal for this while on paid leave for the 18 month investigation.

Prime example why police need
Prime example why police need more money for training & mandatory monthly drills and less for buying surplus military gear.
An 18% hit rate is abysmal and eventually going to get an officer or innocent bystander killed. Especially now that even tiny towns are armed like the national guard and love breaking out the soldier gear at every opportunity.
Don't be ridiculous.
The people who do this are tweaking junkies. The walk into the bank and demand money and they give them a thousand and they walk out and go on a bender for a few days. Even when they wear disguises they get arrested eventually (FBI takes this sort of thing seriously). This character will be in custody soon. This isn't the movie Heat and there's no need to act like it's the end of Western Civilization. No need to day-dream action flick endings. This bank could spring for better cameras though.
