Truck storrows in West Roxbury
By adamg on Fri, 10/23/2015 - 12:32pm
Police have blocked Lagrange near Centre thanks to the latest truck driver who tried to go under the train bridge only to learn that, no, they can't and now there's a tractor trailer wedged into the bridge real good.

Just here to express my continued appreciation of the word "storrow" as a verb meaning this.

Just here to express my continued appreciation of the words "licensed driver" as an adjective for the people that keep doing this.
Yesterday I witnessed an
Yesterday I witnessed an industrial truck blow right through a stop sign on Newbury St, while I waited at the crosswalk. He had plenty of opportunity to stop, but he didn't.
It feels like "illegal, erratic, distracted and disrespectful" are the new normal.

There are no real punishments for drivers who break the law so why would they stop doing so?
Agreed.
I don't think even a $1,000 fine and loss of license for 60 days for running a red light and/or a NO TURN ON RED violation, would stop someone.
Besides, they can take the license away and they'd still get in the car and drive.
Just today, I was in North Reading, posted speed limit is 25 because of a playground on that street, which I was adhering to. Someone in a Cadillac Escalade SUV illegally passed me by, going on the left side of the road (one lane on each side of that street) and went on their way. Further up, it had to stop for a stop sign at an intersection, continued straight and within a matter of seconds, the SUV and driver were long gone. I estimate the driver was doing at least 50 on that road, the speed limit eventually goes up to 30.
What could be that important that he/she had to pass illegally and do twice the speed limit?
Indeed
I'm thinking about giving up riding a bike until there is a Boston Police Officer on traffic duty at every single intersection in town, 24 hours a day.
Not 10 minutes ago
I was walking on the SIDEWALK in front of a Dunkin Donuts. A driver cut though a line of cars and had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting me as she attempted to pull i across the sidewalk. Another driver rolls down her window and yells at me to watch where I'm going as if Pedestrians on the sidewalk should yield to cars pulling in, not the other way around.
So yeah, "illegal, erratic, distracted and disrespectful" sums it up well.
Can we blame the developers
of the inhaler factory for this?

Oh the irony
It's funny that the Google-cam caught the scene with a truck coming down the street.

Though I don't know how the driver knew he would fit, since the sign on the bridge just says "Low Clearance", instead of specifying the height as required by law.
How about a warning sign back at the previous intersection? Nope, no fun and excitement doing it that way. https://goo.gl/maps/JD9yoYbPyxr

So did not rush down to take the obligatory pics. However, there was at least one news copter that was apparently full of vim so video might show up somewhere.
