Man charged with ramming cop's car outside the Garden, OUI on 93

Transit Police report arresting a Billerica man they say plowed into a T cop's personal car behind the Garden, then sped up I-93 while drunk.
According to Transit Police, Paul Brouillette, 56, backed his pickup into a Transit Police sergeant's car behind Boston Garden, then started to drive away, around 8 p.m. on Saturday. The sergeant was working a detail for the Bruins game, which had started an hour earlier.
The sergeant shouted commands for Brouillette to stop, however the commands were to no avail. The sergeant was able to catch up to Brouillette's vehicle at the exit ramp to the parking lot and requested Brouillette's paperwork. Brouillette denied striking the sergeant's vehicle and sped off at a high rate of speed.
The TPD sergeant requested assistance from TPD units and gave Brouillette's last location of flight. Responding officers were able to locate Brouillette traveling on 93 North and conducted a stop of his vehicle in the vicinity of exit 32 [Medford/Malden exit]. Officers noted Brouillette exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication and ultimately placed him into custody.
Police say Brouillette had a fully loaded .38-caliber handgun in his armrest, but that he had a license to carry.
He was charged with OUI, refusal to submit to a police officer and being in possession of a firearm while intoxicated, police say.

MBTA workers get to park at TD Garden for free? No wonder you never see them on trains. On the flip side good job getting this menace off the road.

Mbta workers do not receive free parking at the garden. The mbta leased the garage to Delaware north for 100 years and that benefit went away.

What's the difference between OUI (operating under the influence) and DWI (driving while intoxicated), as far as the charges go? Curious...
None.
But in MA the statute says OUI, there technically is no DWI.
Learned somthing today
While this makes sense, I never knew it was technically illegal to carry a gun if you are drunk. I wonder how many people with a license to carry are out there having a few every night and are in violation of the law, even if they walk home.

Carrying IS stupid. Nobody should be walking around with the power to instantly end another person's life deliberately or by accident.

There's rarely a cop around when you need one
They usually show up after the fact and pick up the pieces. If you were confronted with a situation that might send you to the ER or morgue, you'd be damn happy to have a firearm to defend yourself. A few years ago an unstable guy started strangling a doctor at MGH outpatient office. Luckily for her, there was another man present who had a LTC and had his gun with him. He managed to shoot the crazy psyche patient, killing him. The doctor lived.I'm sure she's happy about the outcome. No charges filed and police gave him an award.
