Cohasset couple fined $500 for allowing teen 'rona rager on their property; high school, middle school to go remote
Cohasset Police report finding teens partying it up at a Jerusalem Road house around 11 p.m. yesterday:
Upon arrival, officers observed a gathering of approximately 20 underage youths who were allegedly disregarding state-mandated social distancing and face covering protocols inside an enclosed small structure on the property. Open containers were found throughout the structure as well.
While officers were at the scene, several of the occupants began to flee into a nearby wooded area. Police attempted to identify those who remained present and contacted each of the juvenile’s parents to make arrangements to pick up their children.
Two adults on scene were identified as the homeowners and were given a $500 fine for violating the state's Covid-19-related ban on indoor gatherings of more than 10 people, police say.
WFXT reports that because of the party, students at the town's high school and middle school will be learning strictly remotely for the next two weeks.

Wow. $500!
Looking at the property values on Jerusalem Road, it’s hard to imagine a whole $500 will have any impact on these irresponsible parents. I also doubt these people have any consideration for all the other parents, families, and teachers impacted by their recklessness. Five hundred bucks.
Of course this party was on
Of course this party was on Jerusalem Road. Home to the super entitled for many generations.
No criminal furnishing alcohol charge?
Seems appropriate- and more impactful- to charge parents with furnishings alcohol to minors, and maybe as keepers of a disorderly house. $500 is a small golf game bet for these folks, and is a joke.
The parents are being lashed
The parents are being lashed with wet noodles.
If the opinions of the student and the other parent quoted are representative of the community as a whole, Cohasset residents don’t even seem to hold them responsible,
Too bad they aren’t named in the press. Protecting not so innocent children by not naming the parents doesn’t help.
Expect more parties.
Ah, as if the residents of
Ah, as if the residents of Boston behaved so well.
Oh great
We got a toddler here who thinks "but BILLY did WORSE!" is exculpatory.
Blah, Blah Jerusalem Road Blah, Blah Cohasset
Parents hold a party (which is wrong, very wrong, of course) and the typical self-perceived smart commentators come down with very smart disdain, because, well of course that's what they do. Rich kids blah, blah, blah. Entitled brats blah, blah, blah.
Two killed up off Blue Hill Avenue - Crickets from the same self-perceived smart commentators.
A terrific double standard at play on what is wrong with society and how people here perceive it.
Beautiful click bait Adam.
Do you not see the article above this one?
You see only what you want to see.

That comment was put up nearly 12 hours after it was posted and nearly 90 minutes after mine.
You obviously can't see. Try harder.
Your comment was irrelevant yesterday
and still is today.
Thanks Pee Wee Lee
All I hear is Paul Reubens speaking each time you write something. Your last comment confirms it.
If your concern is people’s
If your concern is people’s lives than covid and the people spreading it is a bigger story than a shooting since covid kills more.
Thank God There Are No Bike Lanes on J-Road
We can save the people on it from your sanctimony.
No one has clever things to say about 2 murders.
You should be smart enough to figure that out. Based on your previous posts I am also highly dubious of your level of concern for 2 killed off of BH Ave. It feels like those guys who can't make a solid point, so they're always trying to cry "Hypocrisy!" like it were some kind of intellectual Get Out of Jail Free card.
Interesting
Interesting that a.) you didn’t direct reply to these self-perceived smart commenters and b.) you lament the silence on the “two shot off Blue Hill Ave” posts by others, yet you also remain conspicuously silent on such posts.
Furthermore, in case people think I partake in a Mattapan/Cohasset double standard, let me just say that if someone shot 2 people in Mattapan and received only a $500 fine, I would find that outrageous, too.
Ooooh
Concern troll is concerned.
(now watch his utterly toxic, misanthropic "rebuttal")
No charges for the open
No charges for the open containers??? Sounds about white.
I don't understand your
I don't understand your comment. Open container laws apply to vehicles and public places, they can not be used for drinking on privy property such as persons yard or home.
$500 for the fine
But how much is their homeowner's insurance going to go up?
Yes, this sort of recorded citation will do that for ya.
Imagine if
Shelter were so plentiful and cheap that you didn’t need insurance.

Someone doesn’t own property
Technically, you don’t need homeowner’s insurance if you own a home, but if you have a mortgage, the mortgage holder requires it. You know, in case your house burns down and the value of what you own is suddenly just the land.
True, but...
It seems that the only home owners who don't buy insurance tend to be the ones who can least afford to replace the home in the event of a fire or other catastrophe. You don't HAVE to buy it, but man are you stupid if you don't.
You've missed the point
Little Will thinks that the government is forcing home owners to purchase coverage, like they do with coverage for automobiles and health. I mean, one is crazy for now buying any of those, but in theory, only one is optional (yes, health insurance is optional, but you can get dinged come tax time.)
(Wanking motion)
No, I don't think that government is forcing homeowners to buy insurance.
