Shuttered Hynes could echo with music as Berklee resumes classes this month

Berklee College of Music has rented 17 rooms at the Hynes Convention Center for students to use in a socially distanced sort of way for classroom and ensemble use.
To give you the signature Berklee College of Music opportunity of creating music together, the College is supplementing students’ classroom experience by making evening hours available at the Hynes, during which College students can reserve these rooms to convene and make music. Officially known as “the District,” many of these rooms will have a dedicated backline setup to make playing and performing together (for virtual audiences only) easy. Conservatory students will also have the opportunity to reserve space at the District for cohort extracurricular activities and rehearsals.

And I thought it was gonna be a vaccination center eventually.
Seems like it could be both
Haven't been in there in a long time but it seemed quite spacious and the "rooms" are distinct from the exhibit hall space, if I recall correctly.
Breakout Rooms
The Hynes has some smaller interior rooms that would be great for this but not so great for people who want to minimize time inside while getting their vaccines.

Weird shifts in spending
This pandemic is driving a lot of weird shifts in spending and expenses;
Restaurants are earning little to no income.
Hynes is losing conventions (did Hynes still do those?), but earning some from renting to Berkely.
But I imagine the Hynes staff is greatly reduced. No catering, less security, etc. So those people aren't earning any money.
Berkely is spending money they would not have budgeted on renting these rooms.
Carpenters, contractors and home improvement seems to be booming.
Cities and states are losing tax revenue (restaurants), while spending a ton on public health.
The T's finances are even more of a mess than usual.
All this is just thinking aloud about ways that, even once the pandemic itself subsides, the after-effects will linger.

It always helps...
...to remember that the school's founder was Lawrence Berk, who named the school after his son Lee (and Lee was president of the school for many years as well).
Good use of the space
I know a drummer who is a freshman at Berklee. It's one thing to study Economics via Zoom, but training to become a better performer really requires you and the teacher be in the same room.
