Citizen complaint of the day: JWay traffic light was blowin' in the wind, then it crashed to the ground

Passing birds can now cross.
An alarmed citizen filed a 311 report about a traffic signal on the Jamaicaway inbound at Perkins Street that crashed to the ground this afternoon.
UHub learned of this complaint from the filer, who reported:
This traffic light just fell over in a gust of wind this afternoon, missing pedestrians by just a few feet.
The bottom is rusted through.
Wonder if this is a problem with other traffic lights.
I was a little worked up about it, because it came down next to my daughter.
As you can see, the signal didn't abandon its job. In the photo, it's still showing a green light - to any passing birds or aircraft - and it even continued to cycle through the lights.

My father, who grew up with very little in Hyde Park, went to trade school, got a job and joined a union. He worked very hard his entire life before retiring. He was able to pay for my brother and I to go to state univ., for which we are very grateful. You're an arrogant spoiled little brat who wouldn't know a hard day's work if it bit you in the ass.

What is that supposed to mean? Unions were the backbone of this country until Regan started to bust them up. You haven't noticed the decline of the middle class over the last 40 years while at the same time the sky high executive salaries?
In the last 40 years CEO's pay has risen over 900% while the rest of us have only seen a 12% increase. Why do you think that is?
Though we have already lost some of the benefits listed below b/c of the assault on unions take a hard look at it and maybe readjust your thinking.

Unless you're complaining about the job the UAW is doing in constructing cars that can stand up to hitting light poles, I don't see how this "typical" scenario (which isn't even what happened here) has anything to do with union labor.

Yeah, there's clear unambiguous data to support this assertion. In places where traffic light maintenance workers are unionized, this happens all the time, and in places where they're nonunion, it hardly ever happens. Thank you for having provided this data and contributing to a thoughtful discussion.
Funny thing is
The Jamaicaway is a DCR road (formerly MDC) so the traffic lights are probably the state's responsibility. The 311 case probably gets closed with a referral to DCR.
