Shortly before 2 p.m. on West Springfield Street between Shawmut Avenue and Washington Street.
One suspect for the shooting of the gang-unit officer was quickly arrested. The second holed up at 89 West Springfield St. After SWAT officers surrounded the building, he surrendered peacefully shortly after 3:20 p.m.
Boston Police report Requon Martin, 21, of Boston, and Antoine Mack, 35, of Pawtucket, RI, were arrested on charges of armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Police did not say which suspect was arrested first and which surrendered only after the building was surrounded by SWAT team members. Both are scheduled for arraignment tomorrow in Boston Municipal Court.

WILL RISE AGAIN. F@@@ GENTRIFICATION!!
Lol
All snark aside-Expeditious recovery wished here.
Gentrification?
89 West Springfield Street is within the Langham Court Apartments. The Langham Court Apartments is an all affordable complex.
Glad to see everyone getting all concerned about gentrification, but it might just be me, but from what I see, the majority of the gun play in the South End isn't coming out of $3M condos on Union Park or Montgomery Street, its coming out of the units where part of my taxes are paying the rent, even though I can't afford to live there. Oh, the irony.
PS - Don't shoot at cops. It will not end well for you.
Just to point
Out these arent affordable, they’re low-income. Vastly different.
Right over your head.
Thanks for feeding me.
Wow. Disturbing comment. An
Wow. Disturbing comment. An officer was shot and other innocent people were put in danger and you think it's a joke. Grow up. This is real life, not a tv show.
Shoot center mass, right in the chest, put them down
Anyone shooting at an officer should be put down right at the scene. The Boston Police Academy (and many others) used to use a training target featuring a human-like paper poster with a dark complexion suspect. Of course that wasn't politically correct. They eventually switched to a target in the shape of a bowling pin, white with a black outline. Not realistic or lifelike.
Since Obama and the fake Cambridge and Ferguson scandals, I see officers hesitating to shoot or taking difficult leg shots. Shoot for center mass always, right for the heart if they are shooting at you. Shoot to stop, leg shot won't stop them. The police unions are flush with cash. Time to bring in a great police shooting lawyer, Mayor Walsh and Governor Baker and let nervous officers know they have every right to defend themselves and the union/city/state will stand behind them. The Mayor should tell this to each BPD class and the Governor should tell it to the massive upcoming MSP classes with all of the indictments and retirements. Shoot to stop (center mass/heart).
Something tells me
It’s all a farce and you live in Windsor locks CT.
....“Ohhh Winthorp.”
More likely a retired toll-taker who
plays a lot of Call of Duty between bouts of tut-tutting along with the racist mouth-breathers on Fox News.
Why is this terrifying
Why is this terrifying fascist BS allowed to stay up on Universal Hub??
terrified?
You know words can't hurt you right? You'll be ok, just take deep breaths.
Yeah, let's advocate more
Yeah, let's advocate more shooting and more deaths. Murica!
Good thing you retired
Me, I'll trust Boston Police.
You going to tell us you have inside information on just how this incident went down? You know for a fact that shooting this guy would not have led to innocent bystanders or another cop getting shot?
Why
Do we believe anything this “man” says about anything?
Retired cop? Is he mixing up the spelling there?
Post updated
With suspect names.
We needed a SWAT unit
for one guy holed up in an apartment? How is this not overkill?
The whole shooting-at-cops thing
While I find the whole institution of policing as problematic as you do (and possibly more so), this does seem like an appropriate response in this instance. As Sergeant Joe Friday on Dragnet says, if someone was willing to shoot at an armed police officer, do you think they'd hesitate whatsoever at taking out unarmed citizens? Someone who is shooting at cops doesn't care what happens to them, thus is a massive public safety risk.
Yes we should save the swat
Yes we should save the swat team for people that don’t shoot cops. At first I thought you were joking when I read your comment.
Guy shoots a cop, bad guy refuses to come out - what would be the appropriate response from you why a duck? I’m really curious about that.
