Police: Man kicks state trooper in the head while being arrested on a drug charge in Roxbury
Boston Police report a man they initially tried to stop to give a ticket for driving a moped without lights on wound up being arrested and charged on a variety of charges once they got him under control on Fairland Street in Roxbury yesterday evening.
Police say gang-unit officers and a state trooper working with them initially tried to stop Delroy Beckford, 28, of Roxbury, around 6:10 p.m. for puttering around without lights. But rather than pulling to the side of the road, police say, Beckford accelerated, ran a stop sign and improperly passed a car on the left before he finally came to a stop a block away on Fairland Street.
Officers performed a pat frisk for weapons and recovered a hard-rocky substance consistent with crack cocaine from Beckford. As officers were placing Beckford under arrest, he started to kick and push officers while violently resisting. During the arrest Beckford kicked the State Trooper on the left side of the head.
Beckford was charged with trafficking crack, assault and battery on a police officer and trespassing, police say.
Innocent, etc.

"Police Man kicks state trooper in the head while being arrested on a drug charge in Roxbury"
It sounds like a police officer kicked the statie in the head...?
I think we might be

The importance of punctuation
Yes, missing colon. Added.

Huh? Where is the ....

seems so unnecessary and counter-productive
only minor trafficking
he was on a moped :)
Tangent
Back in the day, mopeds were something new, but they were never really cool. Nowadays mopeds are fairly rare and even less cool (if that's possible.) And yet, E-bikes (electric) are now all the rage and very cool. They are simply a moped with an electric motor instead of a gas engine. I'll never understand what qualifies as cool. (And don't get me started on why
onEarth people like hard seltzers!)Edited to please my critics.
You were much cooler
when I first read that as “why Earth people like hard seltzers”. You were so close, but lost it all for a preposition.
Statie and the Gang unit?
Statie and the Gang unit? Why are they saying this started as a traffic stop, it seems like they were following him or that's one hell of a coincidence.
