Man under the influence of something tried stumbling to Fields Corner with a loaded gun, police say
Boston Police report arresting a man they say had a gun loaded with ten rounds as he struggled to get down Geneva Avenue and Westville Street on Sunday morning.
A sergeant responding to a report of a man with a gun at Bowdoin Street and Geneva Avenue around 10:15 a.m. found the man several blocks away, on Westville Street at Draper Street, "stumbling as he walked while talking to himself, and he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or some other substance," police say.
The sergeant frisked the man and found an SCCY, CPX-1 9-mm gun, loaded with one round in the chamber and nine in the magazine, in the man's waistband, police say.
Steven Gomes, 37, of Dorchester, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, police say.
