Angry guy gets $5 from man in Downtown Crossing, but that wasn't enough, so he tried to attack him, then chased him up to Beacon Hill, police say
Boston Police report arresting a guy they say got $5 from a man walking through Downtown Crossing early this morning and when the man refused to give him more, tried to punch him and then chased after him - continuing to try to slug him when he got close enough - until they wound up at Beacon and Joy streets, where the victim spotted a couple of officers and flagged them down.
According to police, the incident, shortly after 3:30 a.m., began when Kelby Jones, 47, angrily approached the man and demanded money:
Fearing for his safety, the victim handed the suspect five dollars but the suspect insisted he give him more. When the victim refused, a brief struggle broke out next to the suspect attempted to strike the victim and followed him to the Park Street MBTA Station where a brief struggle ensued. The victim was able to break away but the suspect continued to chase him while attempting to strike him up until the moment the officers arrived on scene.
Jones was charged with assault and battery and unarmed robbery, police say.
Innocent, etc.

With a chase like this..
No shod foot charge, given that his footwear allowed him to chase the victim better than if he was barefoot?
He must have thought his fists of fury were enough
Since you know he would've gotten a shod-foot charge if he tried to kick the victim.
Stepped up patrols again?
Downtown crossing keeps piling up crime reports. There are often cops and security details during the day an early evening. But not always. Are they even less common after midnight?
after 9pm
After 9pm, when most of the retail closes... DTX is a ghost town.
Even worse the later it gets.
It becomes a pass thru from people coming from the Theatre District and walking north.
