Spurned panhandler goes after man in the Back Bay with a sharp object, police say
Boston Police report arresting a man for an incident outside the Walgreens, 841 Boylston St. in the Back Bay, around 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police say Paul Derrick Nicholson, 61, asked a man coming out of the store for some money and that when the man said he didn't have any, took extreme offense:
Nicholson allegedly produced a straight razor, threateningly raising it above his head, and then made an advance towards the victim. After a brief investigation, officers apprehended Nicholson as he attempted to flee. Though a straight razor was not recovered, a search of Nicholson revealed two syringe needles.
Nicholson was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace, police say.
