The Zoning Board of Appeal today granted the owner of East Boston's infamous eyesore at 155 Porter St. another year to begin turning what is now just a hulking shell of a building into an actual hotel. Read more.

The Zoning Board of Appeals yesterday gave a Lexington hotel company permission to finish converting what is now a shell of a building with telecommunications towers on top at 155 Porter St. in East Boston into a 123-room hotel. Read more.
The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters are at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 207 Porter St. in East Boston, trying to figure out what to do about a five-gallon container of hydrogen peroxide on the roof that is leaking.
There are no injuries and the 9th & 10th floor were evacuated as a precaution.
That's what happened around 8:20 a.m. at the Loftel hotel construction site at Porter and Orleans streets in East Boston and now the surrounding roads are blocked off as crews try to fix the damage.
Heath Management Co. is seeking BRA approval to convert a decaying old factory at 151 Porter St. at Orleans Street into a hotel that would feature 127 "industrial loft-style hotel guestrooms with high ceilings, exposed structure and oversized windows to optimize natural light and dramatic city views."
In its filings with the BRA, Heath is also seeking permission to add a new sixth floor to the top to house fitness and business centers and rooftop gardens.
