Is this a Boston word? We said this all the time where I grew up in NJ.

I remember using this term in HS(on the South Shore). Never knew the origins-Thanks

I've lived in Saugus all of my life and I've never heard that word used, lol. Weird!

The term was in use when I was a junior-high student in Lexington, back in 1978-79.

I grew up in Saugus but I never heard that word thrown at me (I was one of the smaht kids) Then again, I was minted in 1982, so maybe I'm too young. Someone probably said it to me when I was very young and I never picked up on it.

Oh, I remember that well. Mid-80s at good old SHS.I actually still use it on occasion online; it confuses my friends from other parts of the country.

The company was "Bowmar". I remember them from the last of the mechanical analog computer years.

Always wondered the origins of the word! Thanks Anette! That makes total sense. If you never heard this term, you probably weren't one. :)
