An eight-year-old suffered a leg injury in an incident on Pershing Road at the Curley School involving a BPS school bus ending up hitting a gate at the lower school around 3 p.m.
Jamaica Plain News reports the injuries were not considered life threatening - and that Curley parents have long complained about how buses park on the sidewalk to await students.
Parents of children at the Curley School got texts shortly before 10 a.m. that the school had been put in "safe mode" - its entrance and exit doors locked - and that they shouldn't head for the school.

The Curley School in Jamaica Plain was evacuated around 10 a.m. when a trash wheeled trash receptacle being stored in a stairway erupted in flames, the Boston Fire Department reports.
Students were evacuated without incident by the one-alarm fire, BFD spokesman Steve MacDonald said, adding they were allowed back in once the fire was out and the smoke evacuated. He said the cause is under investigation.
