Dan Kennedy: Outrageous.
Dart: Why The Hell Isn't Jim Rice In The Baseball Hall Of Fame?
02145: These people are assholes:
... I can just see them all sitting around eating some shitty continental breakfast at some outdated hotel chain conspiring to keep you from getting in, all while dropping greasy, lardy croissant crumbs all over their cheap suits. ...
Kull: No f'ing way!
Zach Hayes, however, says: Jim Rice is not worthy.

Jim Rice
I think there are a lot of sportswriters still annoyed with Rice for the way he treated them during his career. As a young sportswriter myself in the mid-80s, I remember watching in horror as he angrily picked up a writer from the Worcester Telegram and stuffed him in the wastebasket.
Could not have happened to a ncer guy
Jim Rice was not a very nice human being when he played
for the Sox in the 1970's and 1980's. He was angry, belligerent, and treated people like sh**.
It just so happenes that some of the people whom he treated
like sh** were the same sports writers who now hold his Hall of Fame Fate in their hands. Payback time.
Karma my brother. You reap what you sow.
Rice
I worked at Fenway in the 80's. Rice wasnt really an asshole he just didnt have a lot to say to most people. To those who knew him well (myself not included) he was known as a solid guy.I think its funny that people talk about the Boston writer getting back at Rice by not voting for him now. It is not the case. All Boston writers with votes vote for him each year. Most of the guys that he pissed off are long gone now.The guy he threw in the barrel? Hey Dan, what was his name? You were there right?
The bottom line is that he should be in.Look at his numbers compared to Tony Perez.Almost the same numbers, but Perez played for seven more seasons.Rice was the most feared righthanded bat of the late seventies and well into the mid eighties. He should be in.
