Michael Pahre compares the reaction of BC and Suffolk when the city backed nearby residents and opposed new dorm plans: One worked with the city to find a more acceptable location for new housing; the other accused opponents of NIMBYism.
I think regardless of what school did what it is still NIMBYism. And BC hasn't reacted yet. If they work with the community they can still say that the result was because of NIMBYism.
I also find it interesting that Pahre accuses Jack Dunn of accusing Menino of NIMBYism. Nowhere does it seem that Dunn's quote is directed at the mayor, just at the local residents.
Before anyone tries to make BC look like the bad guy they should wait and see how they respond. This is why the BRA has the scoping process. Hopefully BC and the community can come to a consensus that will benefit everyone involved, but it won't be helped by either side trying to make the other side look like the bad guy.
Who cares if we're NIMBYs. The BC blogwatchers brigade can't get through to Newton because those people have money. That's why they turned to Brighton in the first place.

why aren't Newton residents NIMBYs
