Miss Von Schtoop reads this Globe story about panhandling at Mass. Ave. and Melnea Cass Boulevard and finds it pretty funny, from the Bulwer-Lytton opening sentence to the lack of any mention of all the Boston Chargers kids who equally annoy motorists:
... They open the article with such a cheeseball line: "The call went out: "Yo, po-po!" and within seconds, the panhandlers who meander with regularity through the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard near Boston Medical Center scattered to parts unknown." Really quite unforgivable writing.
Pretty soon someone there is going to start an article with the line "It was a dark and stormy night.." at which point we can just hire a few wreckers to tear down 135 Morrissey Boulevard because all hope will have been lost. ...

Chargers
I noticed the same thing about the article. No Chargers. Everyone is terrified they will be accused of racism if they mention that young children shouldn't be competing with bums and druggies for spare change. You think white kids would be out there for 5 minutes before the cops were called in? Try to find the Chargers Track Team. I dare you. They run a couple of kids in track meets a few times a year to make themselves seem legit--but the entire thing is a scam. Where are they based? How do they have time to train since they're constantly out dodging traffic? They raise a hell of a lot of money but still only have stretched out t-shirts as uniforms, where does the money go if they rarely if ever run in races? Who will be held responsible when one of those kids is killed by a car or kidnapped? I've called DSS, the Mayor's office, the cops--no one is interested or they pass the buck. Every one of these agencies needs to be held responsible for this when something happens.
Oh yeah, those Boston
Oh yeah, those Boston Chargers, now that's a story that needs to be written.
Are the Boston Chargers a public charity registered with the AG's office? A non-profit corporation registered with the Secretary of State? Do they have a 501(c)3 tax exemption and tax ID number? In other words, where does the money go?
Has DSS ever looked into it? At a minimum, putting 10 year old kids out on Mass. Ave and Melnea Cass and roaming the MBTA is reckless.
But this is one of the stories of the Naked City that the Globe has no clue about, because their reporters are now blow-in and blow-out and don't stick around long enough to notice things like the Boston Chargers.
