I agree that the number should be retired, but not only because of Johnny Pesky. Rico Petrocelli also wore #6. He holds (or held) a number of club records for his postions (SS,3B) as well as having been a member of two World Series teams. It would be nice if his time wearing the number was acknowledged.

Get off Buckner's ass already. You obviously have no concept of how key he was in the home stretch of 1986. Yes, a gut-wrenching error, but those things happen, and this is not one that detracts from the number he wore on the back of his uniform.
