CN8 to become CN-Late
By adamg on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 1:23pm
David Scott reports that the Comcast local channel is laying off most of its employees (including, presumably, Sara Edwards) and will end all operations in New England in early January. Some of its sports shows might wind up on Comcast SportsNet New England, he reports.

No more CN8 on analog Comcast
I was baffled by Comcast's decision, a couple of months ago, to remove CN8 from the list of channels on their analog cable system. They didn't replace it with anything, either -- channel 8 is just empty now.
I never liked CN8 or NECN,
I never liked CN8 or NECN, the concept is pretty cool but they always just seemed to miss something. NECN for instance never seems to be even close to up to date on the news. If I hear something is happening I turn to the normal channels, and if they havent switched yet I check CNN/Fox News/MSNBC even if its down the street Ive noticed CNN seems to get on it faster then NECN does lol.
NECN
Similar to CNN Headline News, NECN's news is really only an hour and then is looped. 12PM is looped till 3. Similar deal for the evening news. The remaining programing is rarely interrupted since I'm sure the ad time during them is worth more than breaking in for news.
Which is why its useless to
Which is why its useless to me and I never view their channel, and they lose potential ad revenue from me not watching at all!!
Although I can only assume that other people must be watching to make up for it.
Classy way to let employees know they would soon be jobless
I must've missed it the first time around, but if you read to the end of Scott's report, all the New England employees were brought into a room and then some manager type played a DVD of CN8's vice president telling them they no longer had jobs.
WOW I used to work for a
WOW
I used to work for a large retailer who would, instead of promising local management, send out messages to workers via DVD. Actually now that I think of it Im sure if they were to close the store they would do the same thing...
Reminds me of this song text message breakup, its a comedic song, you have to wait about a minute before it starts.
