Ted Kennedy collapses at inaugural luncheon

Was sitting at same table as Robert Byrd, who also collapsed, CNN reports.

I think its painfully obvious that we have too many old Senators when its a big deal, but not a suprise that not one but two of them collapse at the same event, most likely within a few dozen feet of each other.

My brother was 35 when he was stricken by the same illness that Ted Kennedy has.

12 year olds have heart attacks... Forty year olds have them more often. I understand that almost all illnesses can afflict people of all ages, but statisticly an older person is more likely to be inflicted by an illness/cancer then a younger person. I would also venture to say that many 35 year olds with the money Kennedy has would have resigned from the seat rather then collapsing during every major ceremony.

I'm glad he was there during the Eight Dark Years.

that only one of them collapsed, but that in the confusion the press reported that both of them did.

Which is what happened. (Byrd's fine.)

I hope he gets better!

The long term prognosis for the kind of brain tumor he has is not good. But the Lion of the Senate is determined and wants to still be working when the health care law is passed.

The Times reports.
