2004 was rough on ol' Shank and now his nemesis is retiring, so Dan Shaughnessy attempts to summon the hate one last time.
Oh, who are we kidding? Over the coming year, how many times do you think he's going to reference "the big lug"? Who, finally, is going to pick him up and throw him down that giant shaft?

The real annoyance is CHB
The real annoyance is CHB bringing up Curt in a column about a Patriots game, probably, let's see, yes, the Pats season opener. Who'll be the Big Lug? Maybe Light for committing a holding penalty or maybe Mayo for whiffing on a tackle or maybe Harrison for, I dunno, breathing. But it'll be somebody b/c CHB can't watch an event of any kind w/o thinking about the Fenway Silverspoons.

Hardly. I thought it was pretty tame.

OK, maybe not Evil Empire bad so much as passive-aggressive jerk bad. His "farewell" to a sports icon is really just a chance for him to dredge up every last insult he's tried to type over the past couple of years, right down to insulting people who dare to talk about sports on blogs instead of bowing down before His Serene Highness, the Almighty Shaughnessy.
