Is Friendly's less incompetent than KFC?

Anali writes we'll find out June 6 when Friendly's gives away free ice cream. She's still a bit tender on the topic of free food because she got caught up in the chicken giveaway fiasco at a Quincy KFC.

If you want food, how about going out and buying it? I have trouble identifying with someone who complains about not getting something for nothing. I suspect these are the same people who make life miserable for store clerks with their demands.
But if you're going to advertise free food
then you should understand that a crowd will show up, and be prepared to handle it. Nobody's forcing KFC (or Friendly's, or Ben & Jerry's, or anyone else) to do these promotions.

True,
But it's also true that stores can only hold so much of a product. They went through a weeks worth of grilled chicken in a day, and distributors couldn't supply them with more.
A rain check is more then appropriate, since you still are getting your free food.
Being a brat and complaining that you didn't get it now because you didn't hit up the promotion early in the day is; well, being a brat.
Prediction
Friendly's will probably do okay at handing out free ice cream. They would be in over their heads if they were giving away anything else. Their customer service is consistently awful.

The problem with KFC was the wave they received nationwide due to the Oprah endorsement. When they started going under I can imagine it became difficult to speed up the supplyline due to the sheer volume.
Anyway its Ice Cream, which is their core product. They can stockpile tons of the stuff because it does not require cooking, and can be saved for months at a time.
Its ironic, I think Friendlys will be ok... but I really think KFC is a better run place 99 percent of the time. Friendlys is off the wall.
