I notice the WGBH newsletter is named "MORE CHOICES, MORE VOICES"
From the NOV. 25-30, 2009 edition
On December 1, WGBH is bringing WCRB 99.5 into our family of noncommercial, listener-supported public broadcasting stations, preserving a full-time classical service that otherwise would have switched to another format. With this acquisition, WGBH is moving all our classical music programming to the new station, where classical fans can enjoy a robust, 24/7 service, on air and online.
At the same time 89.7 WGBH, Boston's NPR® Station, is expanding its news service to offer you more choices and more voices. Look for the new 89.7 WGBH to be a leading source for perspective and analysis in Boston.
As part of these changes, this will be the last issue of @89.7, Your Don't-Miss List that includes classical music highlights. With more classical music than ever coming your way, we hope you'll sign up for Classical Notes, our twice-monthly enewsletter with all the latest updates on classical music programs and events.
Given WGBH, effective December 1, has dropped "Folk on WGBH" and "Blues on WGBH" as well as the weekly broadcast of Sunday services from St. Pauls cathedral, as well as possibly dropping the BSO Friday afternoon broadcasts, all of which is conveniently not mentioned in a "news" letter meant to educate the members, perhaps it should be re-branded "fewer choices, fewer voices"?
As Dan Hicks sings, "that's just the smoke they're blowin'."
