So I just signed a year lease a few blocks from Andrew Station in Southie in a really nice Condo..

Should I be scared? Tips? How bad is the crime in the area, and what blocks should you stray from when walking home at night?

Looks like alot of stabbings and theft, not so much murders... but thats still unsettling!

It's actually really not that bad. I think like anywhere else you just need to pay attention. I wigged out last night though because my husband had just gotten back with takeout from the Teriyaki House when I read about the stabbing. I've definitely lived in worse neighborhoods; I'm just getting paranoid in my old age.

Just was a little freaked out when reading the online watch groups about the number of muggings in the last year around Andrews station. They don't keep a cop on hand there at night?

Car break in's can be thwarded by not leaving your big toys in the car. House breakins can be covered by relativly cheap insurance (but still a pain in the neck).

We were told not to move west of L street, but we just couldn't give up the low rent on a brand new 2 year old condo.
