The Victoria Snelgrove settlement
Carpundit praises the city for settling with the Snelgroves, but wonders why it is not suing the manufacturer of the pellet gun that killed Victoria Snelgrove last fall:
... I think a big part of the blame lies at the feet of the gun manufacturer, who seems to have sold this thing as a crowd control weapon, when it is really just a rifle - a deadly force weapon. I doubt seriously if the police intended to hurt anyone, and I'd hate to think a cop could be charged just for doing what he reasonably thought was his job. But that's the question, isn't it? Did he reasonably think the FN303, as he understood it, was proper at that moment? I'd guess yes, but it's just a guess. ...

There's plenty of blame to go around.
All the talk about the responsibility of Victoria Snelgrove's death lying with the manufacturer of the weapons(s) that caused her death rings true. However, the responsibility also lies with the Boston Police Department for allowing an untrained individual to use such a lethal weapon and fire it indiscriminately into a huge, huge crowd of people, which is sure to result in a death or serious injury, which it did.
