Airwave shocker: Howie Carr now completely free to rant about Tom Finneran
By adamg on Mon, 07/09/2007 - 3:41pm
The Herald breathlessly reports that Howie Carr is abandoning WRKO for the morning drive slot at WTKK, where, as the Herald subtly puts it, he'll be competing against "disgraced, ex-House Speaker Tom Finneran, Carr's longtime nemesis" - who is now left to flop around on what the Herald describes as a weak-signaled pathetic excuse of a talk-radio station (Note to self: Get a nemesis; good for ratings).
OK, Dan Kennedy, who actually knows these things, calls the Carr migration up the frequencies huge breaking media news.

Are you disgraced?
Because, according to the Herald, that makes for a particularly good nemesis.
Um, no, I don't think so.
Um, no, I don't think so. But I could slap a producer around and see if that helps.
Smashing glass objects at WRKO
That's the claim of Radio Equalizer, which reports that WRKO program director Jason Wolfe went ballistic on learning that Howie Carr was decamping for that other station:
Carr's ultimate revenge on Imus and Barnicle
Save WRKO has a good memory.
you're killing me
The true disgrace? That comma after "disgraced." If you find one in a story, don't _leave_ it there, copy desk!

to clarify a typically hasty comment on my part:
You can't say "ex-House Speaker, disgraced Tom Finneran," can you? No. No, you cannot. "Ex-House Speaker Tom Finneran" is a kind of compound noun; "ex-House Speaker" can't be separated from "Tom Finneran." Commas separate adjectives of _equal_ value. They have no business interfering with disgraced ex-House Speaker Tom Finneran. Please please please copy desk delete such commas where you find them. Get Bill Brotherton on the job.
WRKO needs to change its
WRKO needs to change its call sign to WRIP.
OK, Dan Kennedy, who
Or maybe not, since his proposed solution is for RKO to self-destruct by switching to a proven loser format:
"a talented liberal"
if that isn't an OXY-Moron.....What is?
