Junkyville sounds like a hipster bar in Hudson NY between the pawn shop and the high end art gallery that only sells paintings of nude former NHL Players and stole Roman mosaics.
In days of yore, every registered user had their own UHub blog that they could post anything they wanted.
If the content was good, Adam would then promote it to the main feed/front page. After a while, Adam didn’t want to manage that feature and decided all posts go directly to the main page.
This may still be the case, or perhaps there is some sort of moderation/queue feature and Adam put this through. But it also may be the Wild West and any of us can post anything to the UHub feed.
It’s called methadone mile because drugs have taken over that area of Boston stretching pretty far down mass ave and surrounding streets . Addict after addict taking up space in that area making it absolutely disgusting! They have a methadone clinic, homeless shelter, “safe haven” injection site and many other services geared towards that addicts that could give a shit about all the resources offered except the methadone which is basically a prescribed heroin. I recently switched to BMC and what a disgrace that neighborhood is. From the 2 visits in the last few weeks I have seen countless drug deals, addicts injecting right on the side walk, a women changing her clothes on the side walk while her junky man holds up a towel, a mattress on the side walk. Zombie nation over their. Such an amazing hospital with ppl flying from all over the country to go their and they have to witness this crap. Shameful . I know the bridge to the island in Quincy is gone but can’t we ship them all to a small area in Western mass in the middle of no where that they can be forgotten, I know I sound mean but I’m sick of it. The sidewalks are beyond gross with needles and trash . Youtube “ methadone mile” and you will get your answers.
Are you trying to call it a self-fulfilling prophecy and so the fault falls on us for using that term? Wouldn't be the weirdest idea I've heard around here.
There’s a large methadone clinic there. Mass ave is a glaring example of everything wrong with the recovery “field”. I’ve been sober for a few years, work in the field, and sponsor a number of people who have lived there.
Methadone and other drugs like it out the addict in a vicious cycle. The entire rehabilitation machine is disgusting. Pump people full of drugs that are WAY more physically addictive than fentanyl, heroin, or opioid painkillers. Any addict will tell you the withdrawal from methadone/suboxone is 10x worse than the drug they’re trying to get off. Not to mention withdrawal is the EASIEST part of getting well......Think about it, who wouldn’t endure a terrible week-long flu for a guaranteed better life? Nobody
The small percentage of people who receive ANY therapy are told to write “Trigger Lists” and avoid things that trigger them to use. A plan to avoid discomforts in life isn’t practical.
Walk into a meeting around Boston and you’ll fine 95% of people with long-term sobriety went through rigorous 12-step structured sober living. These places don’t allow methadone or suboxone so they don’t get a dime from the government or insurance. It’s BANANAS!
If somebody reading this wants to make an impact, google “The Family Restored” or “Dennis Messing Memorial Foundation........Those places have paid for hundreds of people to have their lives saved.
there are 2 money grabbing methadone clinics on The Mile. We have our own little Hamsterdam (See The Wire) and now we are seeing murders, an influx of crystal meth and a defacto safe injection site right outside of Woods Mullin Shelter that looks like a refugee camp

Hey Adam, I'm curious...
...how does a post from someone who has been a subscriber for "5 hours 18 min" get posted on your main page?

As for the name itself, I assume it is an allusion to the Mogadishu Mile, which was depicted somewhat inaccurately in the film Black Hawk Down.
