Boston Police report officers responding to an "officer in trouble" call from Canterbury Street off Walk Hill Street late Friday found the road clogged with more than 100 vehicles - and some party-goers jumping on the pickup of a DYS officer and banging on his windows. Read more.

Update: At 7:36 p.m., the Boston Election Department reported that several precincts across the city had run out of ballots. Department said anybody in line at 8 would be allowed to vote.

Around 5:10 p.m., voting came to a halt at ward 18, precinct 10 at the Bates School in Roslindale: Poll workers had run out of ballots to give to voters. Read more.

The Globe reports a federal judge yesterday sentenced Stash's owner Stavros Papantoniadis, 49, of Westwood, to 8 1/2 years in federal prison for his conviction in June on three counts of forced labor and three counts of attempted forced labor after a trial that included accounts of him bullying, beating and harassing his workers for years. Guira & Tambora, 4014 Washington St. in Roslindale, is seeking to extend its closing time from 1130 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends to 1 a.m. - and to build an addition to its front to provide takeout.

The city Office of Neighborhood Services is holding a Zoom meeting for nearby residents, staring at 7 p.m., tonight. The proposed changes will need the approval of the Zoning Board of Appeal and the Boston Licensing Board.

The developers now turning a one-story storefront building on Poplar Street in Roslindale Square into a four-story, nine-unit condo building say they are also fitting out the first floor for what would be the neighborhood's first jazz club and a "low-carbohydrate, low-triglyceride" cafe focused on sandwiches made with lettuce wraps instead of bread. The Boston Public Improvement Commission today approved renaming the road that bisects the Arnold Arboretum as Flora Way, to honor a Black woman enslaved by a nearby landowner in the 1700s, the Rename Bussey Street group of Roslindale and Jamaica Plain residents reports. Read more.

The City Council agreed today to look into the environmental and safety issues related to plans for at least two industrial-sized electricity-storage plants, one on the aptly named Electric Avenue in Brighton, the other on a wooded hill behind the Stop & Shop mall on American Legion Highway on the Roslindale/Hyde Park meet that was most recently in the news for being the summer home of Moodini the Steer. Last month, the US Attorney's office announced roundups of alleged members of the H Block and Mission Hill gangs.

The alleged associates of the H Block gang, based on the streets north of Franklin Park, were charged with the sort of gun- and drug-related offenses you'd expect. But their Mission Hill counterparts - based at the Mission Main and Annunciation Road projects - were charged with a different kind of crime with which to support their own violent warring: Heading out into wealthy suburbs and stealing large amounts of mail which they'd rifle for checks, so they could "wash" them with chemicals and make out checks in large amounts to themselves or accomplices.
