City Realty last week unwrapped some of its ideas for the 5-acre office complex on Rte. 9 in Brookline at the Newton line it now owns: Replacing it completely with a new complex featuring a 20-story hotel/condo tower at the city line along with two shorter buildings with apartments, retail space and medical offices, all clustered around a "town square" the length of two football fields with a stream-like "water feature" that would encourage visitors to sit and enjoy themselves. Car after collision with 60 bus

Riders in an inbound 60 bus were jolted when the driver of a Toyota minivan slammed into it on Rte. 9 just before Chestnut Hill Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Read more.

A federal appeals court yesterday dismissed a lawsuit by the sister of Juston Root, shot 31 times in 3 seconds by Boston and State Police officers along Rte. 9 in Brookline in 2020, ruling that the officers had more than enough reason to fear for their lives and the lives of nearby people, both because he had pulled what appeared to be a gun on officers outside Brigham and Women's Hospital and because when the officers approached they thought he was about to pull a gun on them. The latest Rte. 9 rage report from the Swellesley Report involves a man who was trying to pass somebody on the right near the Wellesley Hills fire station, only that person gave the man the finger, so the man responded by throwing a bag containing an egg sandwich at the finger waver. He was cited for vandalism and littering.

Overturned car on Rte. 9 in Wellesley

Wellesley Police reported around 1 p.m. that the driver of this car flipped on Rte. 9 eastbound just past Oakland Street. Only minor injuries, they report.

Boston Police this afternoon released some preliminary information on the morning incident that ended with a Brigham and Women's Hospital valet wounded, the suspect dead, the hospital locked down and several cars damaged in a crash that shut the westbound side of Rte. 9 in Brookline. Read more.

What started as a dispute between owners of adjoining parcels on Rte. 9 in Brookline over a luxury condo project one of them wants to build has turned into a federal lawsuit over whether companies based outside of the state should be forced to register with Massachusetts just to be able to file a lawsuit in state court here. Crash on Rte. 9

The Newton Fire Department reports a three-car crash on Rte. 9 eastbound made a mess, blocked that side of the road and brought a hazmat crew running to determine whether the transformer on the pole was leaking.

Green Line trolley on Rte. 9 in Framingham

John Costello was waiting for a light on Rte. 9 westbound outside the Shoppers World Olive Garden around noon today when a Green Line trolley rolled past.

For the past few years, the T has been sending trolleys out to some factory in upstate New York for rehabbing, but generally, the take the turnpike to the New York line, so what was the trolley doing on Rte. 9? Maybe the flat-bed driver just had a hankering for some unlimited breadsticks.

Geyser on Huntington Avenue

Jessica Feldish got some video of an MWRA water main turned geyser on Huntington Avenue outbound, at the Brookline line just past where it goes under the Jamaicaway. Needless to say, avoid the area.

Natick Police report the management evacuated the Jordan's Furniture and IMAX theater around 7:45 tonight after a staffer at the theater "received a live phone call stating that there was a bomb and an armed gunman inside the theater." Read more.

Rt 9 East bound in Wellesley has a van on its side and a lot of ladders strewn across the street.
