Boston Police report they are looking for four guys they say beat a man to the ground at North and Union streets, where police found him laid out, bleeding heavily from the nose and with a possible head injury, around 11 p.m. on Sept. 13. Read more.

Police officers responding to 911 calls about gunfire and shouting found a man shot in the leg at 226 North St. in the North End around 2:55 a.m. Injuries were not considered life threatening.

Two cars were also hit by gunfire.

Managers at restaurants in the South End and a Faneuil Hall-area hotel had to explain to the Boston Licensing Board today why they got caught with patrons chilling with unattended bottles of tequila in ice-filled buckets at their tables when neither have licenses for bottle service, but even if they did, Boston's not the sort of place where patrons are allowed to be alone with bottles of hard liquor. Update, 9:37 p.m. Fire knocked down, firefighters checking to make sure it hasn't spread into walls or ceiling.

Boston firefighters are at 243 North St., a six-story building, for a basement fire reported around 9:25 p.m.

Residents were evacuated to the North Street Grille down the street.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved developer Salvatore Lupoli's plans to convert the old Traffic Tunnel Administration building on North Street just off the Greenway into his new home: A 6,700-square-foot manse with five bedrooms, a gymnasium, a rec room with a pool table and a rooftop deck surrounding the building's pergola. NorthEnd.page reports on a meeting last night on a proposal by Sal Lupoli to turn the old North Street building, which also includes a former police station, into a 6,700 square-foot, five-bedroom house with parking for four vehicles and a roof deck.

Truck being backed out of the Callahan entrance onto North Street

Finn witnessed one of the rarest of Boston sights this afternoon: Somebody actually using the normally blocked ramp down from North and Cross streets down to the Callahan Tunnel, across from the old Tunnel Administration building. Read more.

KMV reports the interior walls and ceiling of a building under renovation on North Street at Fleet Street collapsed around midnight. No injuries, but the streets are shut as a precaution. Photo of the damage.

Turkey in the North End

Roving UHub photographer Caroline Driscoll spotted this feathered Freedom Trail walker in front of Aqua Pazza at North and Richmond streets in the North End this afternoon.

Last seen heading up North towards Cross Street. My guess is that it’s heading back to the Green Line to get to its Brookline headquarters.
