Insanity at Jackson Square

After an hour on a dead train, a shuttle bus.

A roving UHub photographer found herself in the middle of complete insanity at Jackson Square, where one shuttle bus just wasn't going to cut it for all the people just trying to get somewhere this afternoon after an Orange Line train - one of the new and allegedly more reliable Orange Line trains - croaked on the tracks near Green Street around 2 p.m. Read more.

Gremlins Traffic Light Scene

One approach rejected by Boston officials.

Boston, which has some of the worst traffic congestion in the world, has adjusted the timing of lights at four intersections in the Fenway, Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain through the use of a Google-based AI application to improve traffic flow- and could extend the application to even more intersections. Proposed building on Washington Street

The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved a 43-unit apartment building next to the currently shuttered Exodus Bagels on Washington Street that will feature several one-bedroom units with dens - and others with patios - aimed at accommodating the expanded market for people who want to work at home. Transit Police report that around 7:40 p.m., a man "intentionally entered onto the right of way" at Green Street as an outbound Orange Line was approaching. The train hit and killed him, police say.

The MBTA had shuttle buses running between Jackson Square and Forest Hills during the investigation.

DCR says it has identified three potential spaces for a dog park along its Southwest Corridor land in Jamaica Plain, roughly between the Green Street and Stony Brook Orange Line stops. Read more.

UPDATE: Jamaica Plain News reports the victim is 19, the suspect 17.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the Green Street Orange Line station, according to Mass Incidents, which reports one person is in custody. The victim's injuries do not appear life threatening.

Orange Line service slowed as trains bypassed Green Street, which was shut for the investigation.
