WBUR reports the BPDA approved plans by a developer to put up a 32-story residential tower on the old BU Theatre property on Huntington Avenue.
The approval includes creation of new theater space in the tower for the Huntington Theatre Co., which would lease the space for $1 a year. The theater company now needs to raise roughly $70 million to outfit the space.
Boston University and the Huntington Theatre Company released a joint press release yesterday announcing they were dissolving their 33-year old partnership. As a result, Huntington will have to vacate their facility at 264 Huntington Ave. BU will immediately list that property for sale, along with the two buildings adjacent. Read more.

We're writing here to announce a new project commemorating the Circle Cinema, which has been a Brighton landmark since 1940. The theater, and its iconic CIRCLE sign, are scheduled to meet the wrecking ball later this year.
We are a photographer and a sociologist who have teamed up to collect memories, photos, and opinions of the theater and its sign (positive, negative, indifferent).
