Improper Bostonian Publisher Wendy Semonian Eppich announced the magazine for Bostonian bon vivants is shutting down, effective immediately.
While this news might be surprising, the company has had a great run and we’re hopefully leaving this incredible city better and brighter since our inception in 1991.
Dana Reichman Gitell agrees with the editors of the magazine for people too busy to look at big words that Redd's in Roslindale has good food. But, honestly, "it's well worth a drive to the suburbs?" Do these people even realize where the mayor is from?
Third Decade critiques the Improper Bostonian's attempt at licking advertisers a best-of list, which, like most of the other ones, pretty much considers everything beyond the Fenway and on the other side of the Harbor to be terra incognita.
I'd take a look myself, but the Improper still seems to think it's 1994 and that a giant animated GIF of its cover is all anybody really needs online.
Guests will be served blues-inspired hors d’oeuvres created by Azure’s nationally recognized Executive Chef, Robert Fathman and specialty drinks made with Reyka Vodka. The party will feature blues by Stretch and a raffle for several prizes, including a grand prize chef's tasting dinner for 6 at Azure. Guests are encouraged to wear blue, and there will be prizes for the best blue attire!
Tickets are $50 per person. 100% of the proceeds will benefit Community Servings. The funds raised from the sale of each ticket will provide two weeks worth of meals for a Community Servings client.

Go figure: The Improper Bostonian doesn't print every photo from locals who drag a copy of the thing to some exotic foreign locale.
It's not just that the Globe dedicated FIFTEEN reporters, photographers and editors to its list of the 25 most allegedly stylish people in Boston. Or that it was spread over six pages (with four pages of non-stylish reviews weirdly stuck in the middle). Or that they somehow decided that city Councilor Michael Ross is more dapper than city Councilor John Tobin. No, what really got me about the whole thing was the intro (print only):
