Women's basketball at the Garden

Michael Burstein was in the stands when the Connecticut Sun took on and beat the Los Angeles Sparks in the first ever WNBA game at the Garden tonight.

Kory Gladysz was there, too (and shows it after the place completely filled up): "It was an amazing turnout for TD Garden's first WNBA game. One for the history books! Sold out! BOSTON SHOWED UP! "

The city announced our five-year Duck Boat parade drought will end Friday at 11 a.m., when the Celtics head on out for a triumphal procession from Causeway Street in front of the Garden. The parade will go by City Hall Plaza and the Common via Tremont Street, turn onto Boylston and end at the Hynes.

Shamus Moynihan was on Causeway Street yesterday afternoon and watched the ride and escort a kid from Dorchester got from the Make a Wish Foundation on his way to fulfill his wish to meet the Celtics.

KTC won't forget where he was 30 years ago tonight - or 30 years ago tomorrow:

I spent my last evening at the old Boston Garden with Pearl Jam Cobain died a few days before and no one knew what to expect. The show started in pitch black, the 1st song Release. Epic. Saw them next night at Orpheum.

In a city with a bad history with pressure cookers, police took no chances when a report came in about a suspicious device just sitting on Causeway Street in front of the Garden and North Station around 1:30 a.m. Read more.

The company that has a contract to sell Billie Eilish stuff got a court order yesterday that will let it and police go after anybody selling unauthorized merchandise outside the Garden on March 19, when she has a concert scheduled. Read more.

ISD ordered a halt to all exterior work at the Hub on Causeway complex above North Station and Boston Garden after a crane lifting steel beams from a truck dropped them to the ground on Thursday - just hours after another contractor's crane critically injured a pedestrian on Atlantic Avenue by dislodging construction material from a building there. A crane’s cable snapped right outside of hub on causeway causing massive steel beams to drop several stories. Doesn’t look like anyone was injured. Building shook violently.
