A man robbed the OneUnited Bank branch at 648 Warren St. in Grove Hall shortly before 11:30 a.m. Arriving officers spotted him not long after on Geneva Avenue near Columbia Road and, after a brief foot chase, placed him under arrest.

The Boston Licensing Board today sided with residents and elected officials and denied a license for a liquor store proposed for 438 Blue Hill Ave.

At a hearing yesterday, residents and representatives from the mayor, six city councilors and two state representatives said there was no public need for yet another liquor store in an area that already has eight of them within a half mile.

UPDATE: License request rejected.

Grove Hall residents and religious leaders packed the Boston Licensing Board hearing room today to urge the board to reject a license request for a Blue Hill Avenue liquor store.

The proposed Blue Hill Liquors, 438 Blue Hill Ave., is "absolutely tone deaf to the people of Grove Hall," City Councilor Tito Jackson said. Read more.

Boston Police report a man was shot around 8:40 p.m. at 96 Intervale St. He was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he died.

UPDATE: Mayor Walsh also got involved. His Roxbury liaison, Kaira Fox e-mailed neighborhood groups and other elected officials on Friday: "I wanted to let you know, the Mayor has heard the complaints and reached out to Clear Channel personnally to ask that they change the billboard. The City does not have control over the content of Billboards, but agrees this is in very poor taste to have in our neighborhood."

Ryan Miller caught one of the two giant $1.5 million wind-turbine blades that turned up in Grove Hall on its way to Charlestown's Wind Turbine Testing Center, only the lead blade got stuck.

The mayor's office today announced a renamed and expanded wireless network which is aimed at providing free Internet access to residents and which could eventually wirelessly cover the city's 20 "Main Street" neighborhood commercial areas.

Already, an average of 9,800 people a day are using Wicked Free WiFi in Grove Hall, Mayor Walsh says.

A Suffolk County grand jury has indicted Jael Romero, 23, on second-degree murder charges for a triple murder at a house party on June 22, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and Boston Police report.

Romero, who lists addresses in Chelsea and Roxbury, allegedly interceded in a fight between a friend and two other men at an after-hours party by pulling out a gun and opening fire. Brian Tirado, 23 and Felix Garcia, 22, both of Dorchester, died, as did Ana Cruz, 22, also of Dorchester, who had no part in the fight.

Around 4:50 p.m. on Hartwell Street at Cheney. One victim was shot in the leg.

The suspect is described as black, 5'6" and thin, wearing a blue top and a black cap. He got into the passenger seat of a waiting blue Honda mini-van, which then sped away.

As LifeLesson617 noticed in Grove Hall, the T did a better job of relocating bus stops along "key" bus routes than it did putting up signs alerting riders and drivers to just where those new stops are.

This is what happens when the MBTA changes bus stops that been parking for 100+ years.

Firefighters are at Quincy and Mascoma, hoping gas-company workers show up soon to help fix the hole in a six-inch gas main there.

UPDATE: Firefighters began clearing the scene around noon, but Quincy will remain shut for a few more hours so that National Grid workers can fix the main.

Around 9:40 p.m. Boston Police report the victim was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are looking for two black men, both in hoodies, one in light jeans, one in dark jeans, who shot the victim, then ran across Blue Hill Avenue and towards H Block.

Boston Police report two men and a woman, all in their 20s, were shot to death at 153 Intervale St. around 4:15 a.m.

Police are looking for a maroon or red, older looking Mercury motor vehicle in connection with this incident.

Transit Police report they are looking for a woman packing bleach and two accomplices for an attack on a 28 bus early Sunday.

According to police, a man sitting on the bus in Grove Hall resisted getting robbed by the three women, around 2 a.m.:

A substance believed to be bleach, was doused in the victim's face during the assault and subsequent robbery. The victim was assisted by others in flushing his eyes after the assault.

When found, the women will face charges of unarmed robbery, mayhem and assault and battery. If they look familiar, contact Transit Police at 617-222-1050 or via an anonymous text tip to 873873.

Transit Police report arresting a Dorchester teen on charges of assault and battery on a public employee and interfering with public transportation because of an incident this afternoon on a 19 bus on Geneva Avenue.
