Live Boston reports a Jeep that just happened to be sitting atop a box of fireworks on Michigan Avenue near Columbia Road caught fire around 2:50 a.m. on July 4th. Neighbors rushed over with garden hoses to douse the car before firefighters arrived.

Over the last few days, concerned citizens have filed 311 complaints about fireworks at Castle Island in South Boston, Charlestown High (where they burned the turf) and the Bremen Street Park and the McKay School area in East Boston. Read more.

A Somerville man police say was shooting off fireworks on the Cambridge Street bridge around 4 p.m. yesterday now faces drug and weapons charges after Transit Police officers nabbed him at the neighboring T station, two Roman candles "protruding from his person." Read more.
