Boston firefighters responded to 421 Park Dr., now under construction as a 13-story addition to the former Landmark Center, for a fire that started by welding and construction debris on the fourth floor but spread several floors upward, around 5:10 p.m. Read more.

Worker at the REI store on Park Drive voted 44-23 on Monday to join the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 1445. Unlike some other national companies we could mention, REI, which is run as a co-op, says it welcomes the new union.

A pair of developers and the Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral say they will soon file detailed plans for two seven-story residential buildings on part of the church's 1.4 acres of land at 165 Park Dr. in the Fenway - and that the project will include "important repairs" to the cathedral. Read more.

Samuels & Associates, which has been building in the Fenway for a couple decades now, today filed detailed plans with the BPDA for its proposal to replace the Boylston Street Star Market and the neighboring abandoned gas station with an 11-story life-sciences building, new parkland and bike lanes along Park Drive and a "cultural pavilion." Dirt bikers and ATVers on the loose

State Police report they are hunting roughly 40 people on dirt bikes and ATVs they say began attacking an 82-year-old Brookline man near the Bowker Overpass, then kept following him as he tried to escape onto Storrow Drive and then beat him when he rolled down his window on Cambridge Street in Allston to yell for help this past Thursday night. Samuels & Associates yesterday filed plans with the BPDA for a new 13-story building next to the existing Landmark Center that would include 550,000 square feet of lab and related office space and room for a large new Star Market that would replace the current one on Boylston Street. Read more.

Fenway ghost bike

Ron Newman was among the bicyclists who attended the unveiling of of Boston's latest ghost bike, to honor Paula Sharaga, 69, a Cambridge resident and Brookline librarian, who died in a crash with a cement truck at Brookline Avenue and Park Drive on Feb. 15. Read more.

State Police have identified the woman killed in a crash with a truck at Park Drive and Brookline Avenue yesterday as Paula Sharaga, 69, of Cambridge.

UPDATE: Victim identified.

State Police report a pedestrian suffered "serious injury" in the crash at Brookline Avenue and Park Drive. NECN reports the bicyclist, a woman, died.

Fenway flooding

The roads around the Landmark Center are a mess this morning becuase of the flooding that Lindy captured around 6:30 a.m. She advised:

Avoid the area if you can. I was on foot so not bad but traffic/public trans is AWFUL

Crowds of Patriots fans - and college students - are on the Common, Newbury Street in the Back Bay, Boylston Street and Park Drive in the Fenway and by Faneuil Hall, celebrating the Super Bowl win. Police report they are loud but well mannered.

Police did have to get onto the train tracks by Ipswich and Charlesgate to escort a guy who tried running across the tracks, except he tripped.

Around 5:30 p.m. at Park Drive and Agassiz Road. Sgt. Lucas Taxter at District D-14 reports the wound did not appear too bad.
