Or maybe they're making a statement, that East Boston is really Boston's Revere Beach? But if so, maybe Sullivan's could start advertising itself as being from Revere's Castle Island?
Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Kelly's, the Revere Beach roast-beef roadhouse, is once again looking to open an outlet in Natick (oldtimers might recall when you could buy a roast-beef sandwich before feeling all the fabric at Jordan's) and in Quincy, which they maybe shouldn't do because the North Shore has roast beef and the South Shore has bar pizza and those are two culinary streams you don't want to cross.
Kelly's, the Revere Beach landmark with outlets in Danvers, Saugus and Medford, has set up a subsidiary called Kelly's Roast Beef Franchising, LLC, whose purpose should be obvious from the name, but just in case, if you call up the certificate of organization, its purpose is defined: Read more.
The owner of Roast Beast on Commonwealth Avenue got himself quite the social-media ride over the weekend, after he suddenly shut down with a sign saying it's all the fault of Massachusetts and Marty Walsh for forcing him to install an expensive ventilation system in his kitchen. Read more.
Boston.com reports on the recent closing of Roast Beast on Commonwealth Avenue: The owner now hates Massachusetts in general and Marty Walsh in particular because a fire inspector told him if he wanted to keep running electric griddles, he'd need to install a venting system, and he decided to shut in a huff rather than spend $150,000 on a system.
It wasn't the first time he ran into city regulations.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports Liberty Bell Roast Beef, 170 W. Broadway, is closing, possibly as soon as tomorrow, as the parcel's owners ready the site for construction of, ta da, 33 condos and a new restaurant space that will probably involve a wood-fired oven and a complete line of artisanal vodka drinks.
THURSDAY UPDATE: The Licensing Board voted to let the two restaurants re-open. However, it set Roast Beast's closing time at 7 p.m. - owners had asked for midnight.
The Boston Licensing Board ordered Roast Beast on Comm. Ave. and the Millennium Restaurant and Grill on Washington Street to shut today because they don't have licenses to serve food.
At Harvard and Comm. Ave., Allston City Limits reports. No word if they're importing seagulls from Revere to throw French fries to.
