Roslindale Pub Night took in the summer Roslindale farmers' market, which re-opened for the season today in Adams Park in Roslindale Square. The market will be open every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., through November.

The fences came down a few days ago, but the formal re-opening of Adams Park in Roslindale Square is tomorrow at 9 a.m., with a re-dedication ceremony. A ribbon will, of course, be cut.
The farmers' market, which had been held up at the commuter-rail station, will re-open in the park tomorrow as well. It will then run through Nov. 22.
The mayor's office today announced pilot composting programs in which residents can bring certain types of food scraps and other organic matter to a local farmers' market for, well, composting.
For the three-month duration of this program, full-service waste hauler Renewable Waste Solutions will donate supplies and hauling services for transport to Rocky Hill Farm in Saugus, Massachusetts, where the collected scraps will be transformed into fertile soil for use in commercial and personal farming and gardening projects.
Apparently, Union Square Main Streets, which runs the market, keeps getting asked. So they're telling you it has nothing to do with a bias against the city's caffeinated masses. It's because the market's goal is to promote local brick-and-mortar businesses, and none of the local coffee sellers (including the local Dunkin' Donuts) has chosen to get a stall.

The weekly Saturday market in Adams Park was so successful last year people were running into problems finding a place to park. Rick Ward from the Roslindale Village Main Street Farmers' Market Committee reports a deal with the MBTA to let people parking in the lower commuter-rail parking lot for free - the lot with the entrance next to the Citizens Bank where South Street turns into Belgrade Avenue.

The Boston Public Market opened last week at Dewey Square (South Station). It will operate every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm, through October 30, selling locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, and other farm products.
They don't seem to be doing much publicity yet, so I decided to give them some free advertising here.

Devra First reports that Jack and the Bean Bowl, a vegetarian food cart selling bean-and-rice bowls by the farmers' market site is giving away all its food starting around noon Friday, to introduce its food.
