Old Hancock Building
In the 1950s and 1960s, a unit at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, collected and investigated UFO sightings - including a number in the Boston area (two in West Roxbury alone). Read more.
The Boston Architectural College posted a copy of a 1950 postcard showing what the lights atop the old Hancock Building mean, in the days when a) the building wasn't "old" (since there was no "new" Hancock) and b) they had yet to come up with the mnemonic rhyme nobody can remember.
As he waited for the Patriots parade down Boylston this morning, Nick Barber watched the guy attaching the Patriots banner to the pole atop the Old Hancock Building.
You can sort of see him about halfway up the pole in the photo below - if you squint and use your imagination a bit:
