Mike Fedotowsky of Kensington Investment Co., which owns 28 Exeter St., apologizes for those stenciled chalk ads for the building that were sprayed on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall walkway yesterday, and says a crew is going up the mall today washing them away: Read more.

Way to make an impression with the neighbors: Several disgusted citizens filed 311 complaints today about the gauche way 28 Exeter at Newbury advertised it has flats to rent - by spraying stenciled ads on the sidewalk of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. The building went up in 1979, so you'd think the owners would know how their ads would be received in the Back Bay.
Penny Cherubino reports Back Bay denizens are taking advantage of how the trees down the center of Commonwealth Avenue are spaced just right to maintain a proper Boston social distance while having a chat.

A drenched citizen complains:
As I was driving down Commonwealth AVE between Clarendon and Berkley heading towards Arlington street with my windows open the sprinklers in the Commonwealth Mall went on soaking myself and the inside of my car with cold water. Someone might want to take a look at the sprinklers and recalibrate them.

A concerned citizen reports on a poor unloved Christmas tree just lying on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall:
Perfectly good Christmas Tree left on Comm. Ave Mall @ Hereford St. Been there over 12 hours. Its about a 9 footer. It was probably too big for someone's apartment and they just ditched it.

Penny Cherubino reports that when tree experts chopped down an infected elm tree on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall recently, they left the stump behind - on purpose.
Instead of grinding out and removing the stump, contractors will use it and the root system that comes into contact with other trees on the block to dispense pest management treatment.
