Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Rodey's Pizzeria and Pasta, across from the O'Neill Federal Building, is now Boston Döner, serving up döner (like shawarma, but Turkish) and other Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes.

Sultan's Kitchen and the Boston Kebab House will soon be joined by a third Turkish takeout place, in the alley next to Old City Hall.
Osman Kiramoglu, who started the Boston Kebab House, told the Boston Licensing Board this morning he wants to branch out at 8 City Hall Ave. - with Cafe Hemshin. Kiramoglu is seeking hours of 6 a.m to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The board votes tomorrow on his request for a food-serving license.
I finally tried some takeout from Boston Kebab House yesterday (tandoori chicken). It wasn't bad, but not enough to tear me away from Sultan's Kitchen on State Street. What do you think?

This is no hole-in-the-wall falafel "palace" or generic Mediterranean restaurant. This sort of food is what I tend to cook when I'm thinking only of feeding myself, and that jived with me. Istanbul'lu is beautiful Middle Eastern home cooking with its feet firmly planted on the ground.
