NBC Boston reports the bodies of a man and a woman were found on the tracks this morning - but were not hit by a train. Shuttle buses are running instead between Quincy Center and JFK/UMass, but there are lines.

New Wollaston Train Station

This woman, who loves, loves, loves the new Wollaston station, what with its gleaming and clean maps and signs and floors and stuff, would probably die of happiness on the spot if a new Orange Line train came through, so we feel bad about mentioning that JFK/UMass, Andrew and Broadway are as much "real Boston" as all the stops with more than two colors on the maps.

An inbound Red Line train checked out at Wollaston shortly after 8 a.m. Dave Curran reports from the station:

An inbound Red Line train refused to go past its expiration date at Wollaston, causing what the T called "moderate" delays at the start of rush hour this morning. Or as Sara put it:

Been waiting over 20 min for a train at #wollaston. #commute #freezing

UPDATE, 9 a.m. Another Red Line train saw a bright white light, this time at Harvard, and immediately caused what the T calls "severe" delays. Signal problems at Boylston plunged Green Line riders into a snail-like existence.

Trying to get on a train to Lechmere

By all accounts, the T ran pretty well yesterday. Today? Well, Kyle Geiste explains this photo he took at North Station:

Lechmere-bound platform at North Station. 3-4 trains have passed us. There must be a better way.

It is, naturally, even worse on the Red Line, where trains took a break from expiring yesterday, but picked up where they left off today. As Nancy explains:

When a 24-year-old with a heart condition went into cardiac arrest and collapsed last week, an MBTA worker who knows CPR kept him going until an ambulance could arrive to get him to the hospital.

The T says that Kevin Bossart collapsed, fell down the stairs and struck his head. Station Customer Service Agent Karen Kane rushed to get a co-worker, Tomas Gonzales, who began performing CPR. Gonzales, an MBTA training instructor, doesn't normally work at Wollaston, but was there to help out with issues related to the cold weather.

Bossart's family went to Wollaston today, to thank the T workers:

NECN reports the 78-year-old woman whose car wound up wedged in the entrance to the Wollaston Red Line stop yesterday has died. Her cause of death was not released, but Transit Police said yesterday she apparently suffered some sort of medical problem before crashing into the station.

By adamg - 11/7/13 - 11:37 am

Transit Police report a 78-year-old woman pulling into the parking lot at Wollaston station around 10:25 a.m. lost control of her car and wound up driving into the station itself.

"It appears she may have suffered from a medical emergency" that caused her to lose control, police say.

This incident was a couple weeks after somebody drove into the Silver Line tunnel.

An inebriate fell into the pit at Wollaston on the Red Line shortly after 8 p.m., according to the MBTA. He didn't come into contact with the third rail, no train was nearby and he was transported to Quincy Hospital with minor injuries, the T says.

Red Line riders report sitting in darkened trains for about 15 minutes as power was shut so that emergency crews could get him off the tracks and into an ambulance.

Red Line trains are bypassing the station as the bomb squad investigates.

UPDATE: A T spokesman says:

The "item" was never in doubt. A Police K9 earlier this morning had detected something in the area of a communications box mounted on the wall. A subsequent x-ray look at the box turned up nothing out of the ordinary.

BallsyTransit Police report they're looking for this guy for going balls to the wall on a hurtling Red Line train Sunday night.
