A West Roxbury District Court judge set bail at $50,000 today for a 16-year-old who allegedly got into a fight with school police at the former Hyde Park High School on Friday when he refused to give up the gun they say he was trying to sneak past them, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
New Mission High School and the Boston Community Leadership Academy, both housed in the former Hyde Park High School, went into safe mode this morning when the brother of a student tried sneaking a gun into school and got into a struggle with school police, according to BPS and BPD.
In safe mode, nobody is allowed into or out of the building, but it is not as severe as a lock down.
BPS sent out notices today for a hearing this Saturday on its plan to move two high schools into the recently shuttered Hyde Park Education Complex.
The hearing on the proposal to move New Mission High School from Mission Hill and Boston Community Leadership Academy from Brighton starts at 10 a.m. at 610 Metropolitan Ave.
