A woman was stabbed in an apartment at 125 Amory St. in Jamaica Plain around 8:45 a.m. Due to the severity of her injuries, the homicide unit was called in just in case.

Boston, which has some of the worst traffic congestion in the world, has adjusted the timing of lights at four intersections in the Fenway, Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain through the use of a Google-based AI application to improve traffic flow- and could extend the application to even more intersections. Five Amory Street residents sued yesterday to try to overturn the city's approval of a proposed new headquarters for Youth Enrichment Services and a nine-unit apartment building next door, saying the two buildings are simply too large for the street and that the Zoning Board of Appeal went illegally overboard in granting the variances the project needs. The Boston Licensing Board today approved a request by the owners of the former Bella Luna and the current Haven for a liquor license with which to re-open the Bella Luna space at the Brewery complex on Amory Street - if it turns out the board has one to dole out. Read more.

Youth Enrichment Services and Watermark Development have filed plans with the BPDA to replace an electrical contractor's building on Amory Street with a new headquarters for the non-profit group and a separate four-story, nine-unit residential building. Read more.

The Board of Appeals yesterday approved two projects that will increase the number of affordable housing units along the Southwest Corridor: Two six-story apartment buildings at 125 Amory Street with twice as many affordable units as required by the city and four two-family houses about a mile to the south that will be aimed entirely at people who could not otherwise afford to live in the increasingly pricey neighborhood. Inaccessible sidewalk in Jamaica Plain

A concerned citizen shows that sometimes a photo is worth a thousand words, with a complaint to 311 about the sidewalk on Amory Street in Jamaica Plain:

If we can't get a baby stroller through past this hydrant, how can someone in a wheelchair? I am concerned about accessibility.

Hof being lifted in in Jamaica Plain

A crane today lifted a metal frame with HAF on it to the top of what had been the FENREFFER smokestack at the Brewery complex for decades.

Local artist Robert Maloney had long been bothered by the missing three letters of the former brewery's owner, taken down - along with the portion of the smokestack they were on - 30 years ago as a safety measure. Read more.

The BRA board today approved a proposed 40-unit condo project at Washington Street and Montebello Road that will include seven condos sold at below-market costs - and commercial space that will also be offered at below market rates. Read more.

UPDATE, 3:27 p.m. National Grid arrived and shut off the gas.

Firefighters and police are on Amory Street between Boylston and School streets for a natural-gas leak inside 192 Amory St. that started around 2:50 p.m.

Police have blocked Amory and are evacuating neighboring buildings as they await somebody from National Grid to try to shut the gas off. At least 14 neighboring residents are now being sheltered on Marbury Terrace.

Police had to ask pilots of news helicopters to back off because of the risk the building could explode.

Developer Chris DiSisto says the condos he built at Amory and Green streets in 2012 worked out so well he wants to replicate their success across the street. In a filing with the BRA, DiSisto is proposing a 15-unit apartment building across Amory from the T stop that would also have retail space - including for a restaurant DiSisto says he wants to run.
