The Dorchester Reporter reports the LLC a local developer set up to help turn an old marina where the Neponset River meets Dorchester Bay into residential and office space and a new marina filed for bankruptcy just hours before the land was set to be auctioned off.

The other developer on the project sued the LLC in February, allegedly for failing to pay an energy consultant on the project.

Rise Together, one of two developers behind a project to bring 120 residential units, office space and a new marina to Dorchester's Port Norfolk today sued the other developer, CPC Ericsson, for what it says is its refusal to pay a consulting firm that helped ensure the new buildings would be energy efficient and resistant to climate change. The Dorchester Reporter reports state environmental officials have ordered the developer of 3.6-acre project at the tip of Dorchester's Port Norfolk, where the Neponset meets Dorchester Bay, to come up with plans to reduce the impact of the proposed residential units and marina.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today mostly approved a project that will replace some decaying boat-repair sheds at the end of Port Norfolk with 120 residential units, office space and a wide walkway along the Neponset River where it flows into Dorchester Bay. Read more.

Seymour's, maker of Nutty Buddies and other cold treats, was based at Dorchester's Port Norfolk. They're long gone (closed in the 1980s), but as Justin Thompson shows us, their sign is once again visible from at least the northbound side of the Expressway. Read more.

The Dorchester Reporter reports that in addition to the usual concerns about traffic and rootless condo dwellers, opponents of developer's plan to put 96 condos on the very tip of Port Norfolk have a new issue: Ever higher tides caused by climate change. A BPDA planner told a recent meeting that "over the next 50 years or so, the 2018 village will shrink to a sliver in the center as tidal waters eat away at the edges."

The developer of a proposed condo project at the tip of Port Norfolk, filed plans with the state on Friday that show a much smaller development in response to vociferous neighbor complaints about a large project in an area largely cut off from the rest of the city by I-93 and Neponset Circle. The mouth of the Neponset was pretty icy along the rotting pilings near the Venezia in Port Norfolk today. There was still a fair amount of open water out in the center of the river.
