The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to grant beer-and-wine licenses to two long-time markets - the East Broadway Market at 869 East Broadway at O Street in South Boston and the Beacon Hill Market, 55 Anderson St. at Myrtle Street on Beacon Hill.

The board's hearings on the two applications this morning were as varied as the neighborhoods themselves. Read more.

Eversource now says it could be around 11:15 a.m. before some 745 customers between L Street and Farragut Road get back the power they lost around 7:45 p.m. yesterday - although a few might not be able to turn their AC back on until 12:30. Read more.

The companies planning to turn the old L Street power plant into a large mixed-use development say they are looking at three possible routes for a new bus line to get South Boston residents to and from downtown - including a possible express bus down Summer Street - and that they are hoping they can get it running in the first quarter of next year. A man with convictions for manslaughter and armed assault to rob and his brother were arrested following raids on their apartments on East 4 Street yesterday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

WBZ reports that's one possibility for dealing with South Boston bus stops that are bursting at the seams - although state Rep. Nick Collins, who suggested the idea said the real answer is more bus service.

Proponents and opponents of a proposed Starbucks at L Street and Broadway are painting the now empty space in Michael Norton's building as the cornerstone of the neighborhood's future.

At a Boston Licensing Board hearing this morning, though, they described very different futures for City Point, the part of South Boston that has yet to see the tsunami of development and chains that has overtaken the neighborhood west of Dorchester Street. Read more.

Earlier this year, the Boston Licensing Board didn't grant a liquor license to developer Michael Norton's proposed Italian restaurant at L Street and Broadway in South Boston (and then rejected a Starbucks there).

Tomorrow, though, the board considers a request from the owner of Mirisola's, 200 L St., to serve beer and wine with his Italian food. Read more.

NECN reports the Boston Licensing Board this morning set the border of Starbucks Nation at Dorchester Street when it sided with residents - and the mayor - and rejected a food-serving license for a Starbucks at L Street and East Broadway. Read more.
