The Allston Brighton Community Development Corp. today filed plans to build a four-story, 49-unit apartment building on North Harvard Street at Coolidge Road in Allston, next to the former Hill Memorial Baptist Church, which will be turned into a " a programmed resident and community space." Roving UHub photographer Paul K. reports he was inbound on Soldiers Field Road down by Harvard Stadium today when he "hit a wave of traffic and saw a mangled U-Haul backing up."
He adds that if you look up the bridge the driver will probably never hit again on Google Maps, it's actually marked "low clearence" (so, yeah, Google Maps needs some spelling help).
The Daily Free Press reports the Allston Brighton Community Development Corp. bought the Hill Memorial Baptist Church, 279 N. Harvard St. and plans to use the site for 50 affordable apartments for seniors. The non-profit bought the church, which had its last services last spring, in December.

Harvard University yesterday filed plans with the BPDA to build a new home for the American Repertory Theatre at 175 North Harvard St. that would include two theaters able to hold up to 1,000 people as well as a 14-story, 264-unit apartment building that would be topped with "a beacon effect" as an homage to Allston. The Boston Licensing Board today approved a proposal by Brian Burke to open the Sandwich Schlepper at 253-261 North Harvard St., a couple blocks away from Barry's Corner, in an 1890s building that Burke is restoring. Read more.
